2011 Notes

 In the 1970's, there came out of Chicago word about a Vision of an Earthquake hitting the City of Chicago, and down the Midwest, (along the the New Madrid fault.)  " Six million people living in Midwestern states could be at risk if an earthquake occurred along the New Madrid fault line which runs diagonally from Marked Tree, Arkansas to southeastern Missouri."

22 June 2011.

last week ordered some food and water containers, and a link to a radio i like-  recent events have me looking over things around here-

water

I have my original water container like this one from 1999. Checked it at one year and five year intervals and there was no plastic taste. Some water to drink might be good to keep around. Also keep some water in five gallon buckets to flush the toilette. Its OK, let people ask questions..

 Note if you store water keep drinking water and some gray water to flush the toilettes with. Change stored water regularly, or use one teaspoon of Clorox per FIVE gallons of water. Red Cross says sixteen drops per gallon of clorox - use eye dropper

radio

little grundig radio was about fifty dollars years ago, has windup feature, batteries as well. works better on the batteries, kept mine on the construction site for years, and after- on same batteries - the windup works but a little disappointing on time it runs, and power. batteries on the other hand lasted for years for me-

Earthquake Frequency- US Geological Survey - Frequency of earthquakes 7.0 or higher;

AD 1-1000, 15 - a major earthquakes 7.0 or higher every sixty six years ;
   next 800 years, major earthquake every once every seven years ;
     1800-1900 major earthquake every ten months ;
        1900 -1980 a major earthquake every thirty-seven days ;
          1980- 2000 a major earthquake every twenty eight days ;
              2011- all ready nine major earthquakes at time note made,
if the trend continues will have 30 major earthquakes this year.

That with tornados strange storms and floods indicates you may wish to store food and water for three to thirty days.  People are storing for much longer. Note if you store water keep drinking water and some gray water to flush the toilettes with.  Change stored water regularly,  or use one teaspoon of Clorox per FIVE gallons of water.  Red Cross says sixteen drops per gallon of clorox - use eye dropper
