For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love. (Gal 5:6 Amp)

Whether we as Christians realize it or not, there are two kinds of faith. One is faith motivated by fear—Satan’s fear, and the other is faith motivated by love—God’s love.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Tim 1:7 NKJV)

In this verse it says that fear is a spirit. That means that it is an evil spirit or a demon. There is also a fear of God which is translated as awe and respect for who He is

Where did this all begin? It began when Lucifer decided that he wanted to take God’s place and rule the universe.

12 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. [14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." (Isa 14:12-14 NIV)

It continued in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve chose to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. (Gen 3:1-6 NIV)

The rebellion or sin of Adam and Eve started the whole process of fear-based faith. They had a fear that somehow God was holding out on them, that He could not be trusted, and if they wanted to be equal with God they had to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In other words, they chose to no longer have faith in the love of God. They went from a love-based faith to a fear-based faith. The sin of Adam and Eve gave Satan the right to attack all of humanity from that moment on, and he does it from his position in our heavenly place.

For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Eph 6:12 ASV)

Our battle is against the evil beings that reside in our heavenly place. The Lord has revealed that each one of us has a heavenly place that Satan and his principalities occupy. He has also revealed that everything has a heavenly place. There is a heavenly place that covers the whole world, a heavenly place that rules over all nations, all cities and towns, all buildings such as churches and courthouses. All houses have heavenly places. This is why some houses are called haunted houses.

Satan is the god of this world and the prince of the power of the air according to the Bible. This tells you that he resides in the heavenly places, and that he rules over the world because he is the god of this world.

in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, (Eph 2:2 NKJV)

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Cor 4:4 KJV)

Most of us, as Christians, spend most of our time fighting against people and circumstances in our life. We do not spend anytime fighting against or praying against our heavenly place and the principalities and powers that occupy it. Yet, the Bible plainly says that this is the place we are supposed to be fighting. Why don’t we do battle against Satan and his principalities and powers? 2 Cor. 4.4 above tells us why. It says that our minds are blinded because we believe not. In other words, we are functioning out of a fear-based faith instead of a love-based faith. How did this happen to us?

We already know that it started with Adam and Eve and we know that Satan occupies our heavenly place along with his principalities and powers. What we may not be aware of is that Satan has occupied all of our ancestor’s heavenly places since the time of Adam and Eve until now. He has manipulated them through a fear-based faith to make covenants with him. These covenants cover all the things that humans do that is of the kingdom of Satan and not of the kingdom of God--things such as wanting to be our own god and solving our problems our own way.

What do we do to be our own god and be able to succeed in our own eyes? We lie, cheat, steal, deceive, eat the wrong foods, drink alcohol, take drugs (prescription or street). We have sex outside of marriage. We gamble, try to acquire, attain, or succeed in the eyes of other people. We work all the time. We become addicted to buying things, hobbies, sports, pastimes, travel, etc. We go into our rooms and close all the windows and doors and try to shut out the world. We compete with others and try to win at all cost. We try to dominate, manipulate people, situations and things to make them come out our way. We dabble in the occult—astrology, witchcraft, fortune tellers, tarot cards, psychic powers, new age, other religions, etc. We try to be smarter and more educated than the next person. We even go to church to prove that we are right with God. Sometimes, we even become Christian missionaries. We blame other people and circumstances for our inability to be like God. I may not have named yours, but I am sure you know what they are.

These curses, and the covenants (agreements) our ancestor’s have made with them, form the background of what takes place when you come alive in your mother’s womb. Satan uses the curses and covenants he has deceived our ancestor’s into agreeing with to manipulate us into making the same choice that Adam and Eve made in the garden of Eden. The first lie he tells us is that God does not really love us and he is holding out on us. This is exactly what he said to Eve. He goes one step further and tells us that our parents do not really love us either. He then tells us that the only way we are going to make it in life is to do it our self because no one else is going to do it for us.

When we accept this lie and choose to get love and acceptance in our own power, we push aside the new person Jesus created us to be, and take into our self the little child spirit who is a counterfeit of whom Jesus created us to be. All this takes place in our will and in our personality. The bible calls this person the old man nature—even though, it is a little child spirit. Paul was very aware of this old nature and commanded us to get rid of it.

Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; (Eph 4:22 Amp)

This is the true meaning of being “Born again” We are to choose to live in the new person Jesus created us to be. This is the person that was pushed aside when we chose to live in our little child spirit. And, how are we to do this? By being baptized into Jesus’ death. We proclaim to the world that we have made the choice to be baptized into Jesus’ death by being baptized in water. When we are baptized into his death, we are dying to our old man nature. When we come up out of the water, we are proclaiming that we are choosing to allow Jesus to fill us with the new person He created us to be.

3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin(old man nature) might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. (Rom 6:3-6 NKJV) (Parenthesis is mine)

Our old man nature’s faith is based on fear. It always exercises fear-based faith. Our new person is from Jesus is. It’s faith is always based on love. It always exercises love-based faith.

Can I be a Christian, go to church, give my time and money ,help other people, and still base my life on the old man nature and fear-based faith. I have gone to church since I was a baby. I was born-again when I was 12 years old, and did not know that I was basing my Christian life on fear-based faith until I was 34 years old. It took me four more years to begin to understand what was happening. I am now 69 and, at times, I still fall back into fear-based faith. Now, I am aware when I do, and I can deal with it quickly. The good news is that the prayers at the end of this article will help you get over your fear-based faith a lot quicker than I was able to.

What I am really saying is you will never get rid of your fear-based faith until you get rid of your old man nature that you chose to let rule your personality while you were still in your mother’s womb. The good news is that Jesus will do it for you. All you have to do is sit on the throne He has established in your heavenly place. Let Him Love you, and set you free from your fear-based faith by filling you with the new person he created you to be. The only way the new person knows how to live is out of Love-based faith. It is no longer my faith, it is Jesus’ faith.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Gal 2:20 KJV)

I choose by my free will to live in the love-based faith of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and I choose never again to live in the fear-based faith of the kingdom of Satan

If I have to make the choice a thousand times, I have chosen in my will to do so.
