Trigger Control Drills good file about using any firearm, details practice that has helped me.
It is widely held that if you are going to buy only one firearm it should be a 12-gauge shotgun. Even a small woman can hold it at her hip, and point it. Many people recommend #4 Buckshot. #1 Buckshot is recognized as a heavier round, with good penetration, and I prefer it myself. (Read somewhere about the FBI certifying it as the best, most damaging self-defense load, but can not find my source-quote, at this time. Paul.)
